Spots & Spikes began with distance.
When experiences cannot be shared directly, they can find another form - through objects, images, sounds, stories, surfaces and things to wear. What began as a private way of communicating across distance became an ongoing exploration of how experiences move between people, senses and forms.
A Sensory Translation System
Spots & Spikes is a sensory translation system exploring how perception, atmosphere, story and experience can become form.
Moving across art, sound, books, fashion, surfaces and objects, Spots & Spikes translates ideas between sensory worlds - turning what is observed, heard, imagined, worn and shared into tangible experiences.
Rather than belonging to a single medium, Spots & Spikes exists between them.
Five Modes of Encounter
Its creative language is grounded in five modes of encounter:
felt.
Atmosphere, texture, sensation.
heard.
Distance, rhythm, sound, signal.
worn.
Contrast, movement, material, form.
read.
Stories, dreams, imagination, language.
shared.
Objects, experiences, connection.
From Source to Form
Each collection explores a different relationship between an intangible source and a tangible form:
Landscape becomes visual work.
Contrast becomes clothing.
Atmosphere becomes sound.
Stories become garments.
Dreams become books.
Where feelings become form.
